21st Annual Shoot for the Magic Benefits Youth Mentoring

The 21st annual Shoot for the Magic sporting clays competition was held June 7th at Warriors Mark Wingshooting Lodge

in Ginter, raising approximately $49,000 for Children’s Aid Society’s Youth Mentoring.

This year’s money raised is expected to exceed last year’s with a higher number of teams and sponsors.

Throughout the competition, 22 teams of four shooters navigated a challenging clays course and enjoyed a day filled

with games of chance, a live auction, awards and great food.

Stifel took home the championship with a total team score of 335.

In the individual category, there was a tie for High Overall Shooter between Chip Good of the Lee Industries team and Tommy Launer of the Stifel Team, both with a score of 93. Launer ended up with the title after a long run count tiebreaker. High  Female Shooter went to Rachael Brown the Askari Associates team with a score of 51. Holden Price of the Price Contracting
team took home the trophy for High Youth Shooter with a score of 28.

Since its inception the annual event has raised over $600,000!

We couldn’t do this every year without the continued support of our sponsors, donors, auction item donors, and volunteers who spend multiple hours planning and those who come out to support us the day of the event.

Many teams, sponsors and volunteers have been involved for 21 years!
2024 major sponsors included:
Event Sponsor – CNB Bank
Gold Sponsors – Grice Gun Shop, JJ Powell, Lee Industries, Junior Land Company/Junior Coal,

ABOUT YOUTH

ABOUT YOUTH MENTORING

Children’s Aid Society has been serving our community through mentoring for over 36 years. Youth Mentoring provides adult mentors for children in need in our community and high school mentors for elementary students through our school-based program. Mentors spend purposeful time with youth focusing on helping them grow in all aspects of their lives. Supporting this program is cost-effective for our community and yields significant positive impacts on the youth served!

We have found that youth matched in the program are:

  • less likely to start negative habits such as using drugs or drinking.

  • more likely to be more successful academically and behaviorally in school.

  • more likely to build trusting relationships with other people such as family members and friends.

The cost to serve one child through Youth Mentoring is $3,766.

In 2022 Youth Mentoring served 76 children in Clearfield County.
